if "en" is not precisely a point on the feng shui compass, it's close (it means a meeting place of fated friends), and EN Asian Bistro in Germantown - itself propitiously northwest of Washington - brings together very fine Japanese and Chinese fare, especially market-fresh sushi and sashimi and vegetarian and vegan dishes.  Amoun the best: raw Spanish mackerel in lemon sauce, peanut-crusted seared tuna, crisp asparagus with oyster mushrooms, mixed tempura, Thai-style stir-fried seafood in coconut curry and a number of fresh mushroom dishes.  On the other hand, modern sushi doesn't get much trendier than spicy tuna "tacos" with guacamole; try it on the kids.
